Topological Methods in Discrete Mathematics (Mgr. Marek Filakovský, Ph.D.)

The aim of the proposed research is concentrated in difficult and important problems in discrete mathematics in the fields of graph theory, combinatorics and the constraint satisfaction problem that are being worked on by several ERC supported groups (POCOCOP - Barto, Bodirsky, Pinsker, Živný’s consolidator grant). Using my expertise, I will attack these problems mainly using topological methods - translating the discrete problem at hand into a question about continuous (equivariant) maps up to a deformation and solving it using methods of algebraic topology.
